Oceania cruises will introduce prices in pounds sterling in their next brochure due out in September this year, for bookings from the start of 2011. The benefits to the UK customer are that the prices will be be more static and not depend on fluctuating conversion rates from their dollar original.

There seems to be a growing trend amongst the large cruise companies to provide pubs. Carnival is following NCL & Cunard in adding a pub to one of it’s ships. The RedFrog Pub onboard Carnival Magic will serve a number of tasty Caribbean beers.

The ship will feature various English’ for international clientele such as an outpost of Fortnum & Mason, the quintessential English store found at the heart of London’s Piccadilly stocking preserves, biscuits and other gifts. There will alsob be men’s designer clothing by Hackett of London and hand-woven Scottish woollen products from Harris Tweed.

Royal Caribbean has revealed a 63% increase in bookings from the Middle East for the first half of 2010 compared with last year. Most popular destinations for Middle East travellers were Mediterranean and Caribbean with cruises of 9 nights.

More than 96% of 2010 summer cruises on Celebrity Eclipse have now sold out. Celebrity Cruises said its new ship, which launched in April, was sailing at full capacity on each voyage.

The ports of Dublin and Cork are scheduled to receive a record 139 cruiseships in total this year, bringing 180,000 visitors and crew. Many more of these cruiseships are due to visit over the next two months and stretching into late Autumn. Between €35-55m is expected to be generated into the Dublin region from high-spend cruise visitors while a further €5m is predicted for the local economy at Cork.
