Princess are to reintroduce a practise dormant for 20 years whereby passenger friends and family may board, tour the ship and dine with family who are cruising on the day of depature.  The program is called “Bon Voyage”.

Norwegian Cruise Line is planning to increase fares up to 7 %, starting from the 2nd April, after experiencing strong demand during the start of the wave season of bookings in January and February 2010.

A recent assertion by Chief Exec Micky Arison of Carnival in their 2010 Cruise report states that passenger numbers could double up to three million in the next 10 years.

Carnival Cruise Lines will be increasing their prices by 5% for all summer 2010 sailings.

Chief Executive Gerry Cahill said “While pricing has not fully recovered to 2008 levels, we are increasing prices and will implement an across-the-board increase effective from 22nd March 2010″.

On 26th February 2010 at the Fincantieri shipyard near Genoa, Oceania celebrated the filling of water for the building dock of their newest ship Marina and the first steel cut for her future sister ship Riviera.

Cunard is bringing classical and contemporary jazz performances to various eastbound Transatlantic crossings aboard Queen Mary 2 from April - October 2010 including renowned trumpeter Eddie Henderson, who’s first trumpet lesson was given to him by the legendary Louis Armstrong.

In addition on the 29th April 2010 during the westbound crossing, acclaimed documentary filmmakers Dori Berinstein and Judd Ehrlich will join the cruise.  Cunard  was the sponsor of the 2009 World Documentary Feature competition and recognised as the 2009 Official Cruise Line of the Tribeca Film Festival.

During port stops in Monte Carlo, Cannes and St. Tropez passengers aboard Crystal Cruises will have the opportunity to test drive a  Ferrari Scaglietti, Ferrari F430 Cabriolet, Lamborghini Galliardo Roadster e-gear and the Maserati Quattroporte Cambiocorsa for a day along the French Riviera to the sum of £3476! The high cost is associated with insurance for a £100,000 car.

Royal Caribbean and NCL are going head to head in Barcelona as both Liberty of the Seas and Norwegian Epic will be based there from summer 2011.

As from summer 2011 NCL will be dropping Dover for Copenhagen as the departure port for summer Baltic cruises onboard Norwegian Sun.
