Movies under the Stars
Princess Cruises has taken the idea of the outdoor drive in movie to a different level with their “movies under the stars” initiative for Dawn Princess.

Measuring 8m x 4.5m the large cinema screen was installed on the Lido deck whilst in dry dock in Brisbane as well as a child-free relaxation zone known as The Sanctuary.

Princess Cruise director Sammi Conneen-Baker said “The movie idea is a modern spin on a traditional pastime and that’s the root of the appeal. Years ago it was popular to have drive-in movies.
This is basically going back to that time but with all those modern comforts. You can sit in a lounge chair, have popcorn, someone brings you a glass of champagne when you want, you have a blanket if you’re chilly. It’s a posh way of going to a drive-in, except it’s a sail-in.”
Future plans include outfitting the sister ship Sun Princess, to hit the seas in April 2010.
