Is the Alaskan cruise market on the rise?

We reported in May 2009 how some cruises companies were reducing or stopping their Alaskan itineraries here, however Crystal will offer Alaskan cruises again in 2011 after a 6 year gap whilst Disney will be cruising there for the first time. This will compliment Silversea & Regent who continue in the region.

Smoking or smoke free cruises?

Here is an overview of the smoking policies onboard the major cruise lines.

Carnival Cruise Lines
In previous years Carnival ran a no smoking ships, however today all of the ships have zones where smokers are free to light up such as in the casinos, most of the bars and lounges, the discos and in designated areas on the open decks including the outside dining area of the Lido cafe. Smoking is also permitted in the cabins and on balconies. Dedicated cigar bars are provided on some of the larger ships in the fleet. (more…)

UK cruise show

The Cruise show is at London’s ExCeL on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd March 2009, (organised by the Daily Telegraph).

It will feature contests, cruise experts discussing and answering questions on a host of cruise topics. Most major cruise lines – and many smaller, more adventure-oriented companies – will be on hand to answer questions, offer trinkets, and provide brochures and other info.
